AUCTION LIAISON

Meet Leslie Westbrook

I have had a lifelong interest in art and antiques.

I first became interested in auctions as a young child, accompanying my grandmother to auctions in Los Angeles. I still remember a collection of fans that caught my fancy! Later, as a young woman on my first trip to London, I attended auctions in that great city, as well as explored Portobello Road, Bermondsy Market and shops along the King’s Road. Over the years, I dabbled in selling antiques by opening small shops in Montecito and Summerland, but my itchy feet and life as a travel writer called. On most trips, I would seek out antique shops and auctions, shopping along the way. I sold things occasionally at auction, but it wasn’t until a good friend asked me to help him sell an Andy Warhol print that I seriously considered helping others. Most of my earliest clients were friends, then the business began to grow by word of mouth. A magazine article, some radio shows and other publicity as well as happenchance meetings on my travels grew my business. I love helping others dispose of items and seeing them turned into cash to be spent as each one desires, be it to help a grandchild through college, pay off bills or buy new pieces of art!
